The Camping Canucks was started by Raegan and Jeremy, two people who enjoy being outside and sharing our experiences with others. Among the activities we pursue are hiking, backpacking, camping, canoeing, biking, running, rock climbing, snowshoeing, downhill and XC skiing, mountaineering, and alpine ski touring. We also enjoy hunting and fishing and exploring the many backroads we travel while in pursuit of trails, lakes, and mountains. We will often take any opportunity we have to explore a new trail, lake, or road.
This has become a lifestyle for us and living in Kamloops, BC puts us in the middle of it. The Coast Mountains are a few hours to the west of us, and the Rockies are only a few hours to the east so that makes for quick trips to get into the mountains. Closer to home, we have numerous lakes just waiting to be paddled, along with some of the best rivers in BC for paddling on. Not to mention the many hiking and biking trails within a short distance of the city. We enjoy both front country and back country camping and spend a large amount of our free time doing both. Having purchased a canoe in 2013, we have pushed our trips out to include some of the best areas available only to marine access.
Many times, we will also base camp for hiking and canoeing or just as a nice break and an easy way to spend a weekend. We are always looking for the next great forest service site and park to camp in and we know that BC has plenty of both just waiting to be found.
Anthony joined Camping Canucks in 2015.
As a flatlander from Manitoba, Anthony has always been captivated by the mountains of the west. Moving to Kamloops has provided him with the perfect base camp to explore those very peaks that pulled his family west. His typical hiking style can be summed up with “Nothing ventured, nothing gained”. Bushwhacking has become an acceptable form of travel for him as it seems that a lot of the great spots are off trail. Happy Hiking!
We’ve put this site together to offer our experiences and insights into the trips we do and the gear we use. Anything that is related to our activities will be posted here. We always welcome feedback so please feel free to contact us and post a comment and be sure to check us out on Facebook and Instagram.
